Tutka Bay

Paddling into tutka lagoon.jpg

Tutka Bay is a long, deep, and incredibly scenic fjord in Kachemak Bay State Park, and it offers lots to see and do - quiet beaches, coves, islands, waterfalls, and myriad wildlife.  The entire bay is a kayaker’s paradise. There’s a great camping spot toward the back of the bay - “the Isthmus” - with flat tent sites, fire rings, and an outhouse. Tutka Bay Lagoon is a popular fishing spot when the reds and pinks are running, and if you time the tides right, it’s a fun place to paddle a kayak or a SUP. There’s a public use cabin at Sea Star Cove on the south side of Tutka Bay, and a rental yurt nearby at Tutka 2, with access to trails to Tutka Lake and Tutka Creek Falls (great berry picking too during berry season!).  There’s also a rental yurt on the north side - Tutka 1 - at the South Grace Ridge trailhead. For the more serious adventurer, there’s the Tutka Backdoor trail at the back of the bay.
