Humpy Creek

Humpy+Creek.jpg

Humpy Creek is a beautiful salmon stream nestled into the tidelands, salt marshes, and forest of Kachemak Bay State Park. There’s a great rental yurt about 500 yards up the beach, and trails to connect you to Emerald Lake, Glacier Spit, and Grewingk Glacier Lake. Or take your kayak up the bay into Mallard Bay or Bear Cove. But let's be honest: this is one lousy place to land a boat! The beach is exposed to most winds and it's shallow, so dry landings are virtually impossible. You WILL get your feet wet, and maybe more, so wear waders or water shoes.  And when the tide is out, you’ll have your work cut out for you getting your gear from where we land to the yurt or campsite. Sounds great, doesn't it? Well, it is! Once there, you’ll find paradise. It’s quiet and beautiful, and pink salmon and Dolly Varden fill the stream in late summer. The eagles and bears and seals love this place, too. Share the fish and you’ll all get along. It's the Alaskan way.
