Right Beach/Left Beach
At the south end of Glacier Spit, you’ll find two beautiful beaches - Right Beach and Left Beach (so-called because one is on the left side of a rock outcrop, and one is on the right. Pretty ingenious, huh?!). Both beaches are steep, so they’re accessible at any tide, and they’re backed by beautiful, rocky cliffs. Right Beach boasts a yurt - named, of course, the Right Beach Yurt - and a natural spring that (usually!) produces fresh water (which of course should be filtered before drinking). Left Beach is home to the area’s leading rock climbing area - Kachemak Crack - just off Rusty’s Lagoon. There’s ample camping at both beaches, and depending on tides, both beaches provide access to Glacier Spit and the trailhead to Grewingk Glacier (the rock outcrop cuts off access to Right Beach at high tide, so time your hikes accordingly!).
