Grace Ridge

If you’re looking for a little more exercise and adventure, Grace Ridge is the trail for you! This 9-mile-long hike takes you over 3100 feet above Kachemak Bay, on a true ridgeline trail that offers stunning views of Sadie Cove on one side, and Tutka Bay on the other. On a clear day, you can see four volcanoes (Augustine, Iliamna, Redoubt & Spurr) and a fantastic panoramic view of Lower Cook Inlet. Grace Ridge Trail connects Kayak Beach on the north end to South Grace Trailhead/Tutka 1 on the south end, toward the back of Tutka Bay. Because cell phone communications are spotty in the back of Tutka Bay, we recommend you start your hike at the South Grace Trailhead/Tutka 1 and schedule your pick-up at Kayak Beach or Quarry Beach (and the south end is steeper than the north end, so it’s nicer on your knees to end at Kayak or Quarry Beach too!). And there are yurt rentals on both ends of the trail (Kayak Beach or Quarry Beach at the north end, Tutka 1 at the south end). This hike is not for beginners, but it’s an unforgettable experience! Pack a lunch and plenty of water, and make sure you’re dressed for changing conditions!
