Jakolof Bay
Jakolof Bay is a beautiful, secluded finger bay hidden next to Kasitsna Bay and behind the Herring Islands on the south side of Kachemak Bay. There you will find oyster farms, set net fishery operations, camp sites, and a public dock that is a community focal point. From the dock, you can drive or bike (taxi cabs available too!) 10 miles to Seldovia, a small fishing village nestled in beautiful Seldovia Bay. Grab a coffee, go fishing, or hike the Otterbahn Trail to beautiful Outside Beach! Or head south from the Jakolof Dock - by bike or on foot - to take the trail above treeline to Red Mountain for some fantastic alpine views. Did we mention berries? Yes, if it’s berry season, bring your bucket! And if it’s winter, the Jakolof Dock is a short hike to the trailhead to Broken Knife Mountain and some amazing backcountry skiing!
If you’re looking for a spectacular adventure, try our “Seldovia Package!” You take Mako’s Water Taxi to Jakolof Dock, then hop into a cab for a day exploring Seldovia. To get back to Homer, jump into a plane for a stunning view of glaciers, mountains, and the sea from the air.
