Gull Island

Gull Island.JPG

Take an amazing tour around a raucous sea bird rookery just a short ride from the Homer Harbor! Gull Island is the summer home to thousands of sea birds. In fact, come July, the population almost doubles, with hatching chicks and adults clamoring for space on the rock and flying overhead. There are at least 8 different species that nest on Gull Island: Black-legged Kittiwakes, Pelagic Cormorants, Red-faced Cormorants (a bird watcher’s favorite), Glaucous-winged Gulls, Pigeon Guillemots, Common Murres, and the ever-popular Puffin-- both Tufted and Horned. This is a popular destination, fun for all ages, but you can’t get off the boat! But we’ll cruise around the island so close you can feel (and smell!) the life force. Bring a camera and a hat!
