Bear Cove

IMG_0003.jpg

Bear Cove sits nestled at the base of the Kenai Mountains toward the head of Kachemak Bay, with snow-capped peaks and glacial valleys. Bear Cove consists primarily of privately-owned homes and properties, and there’s not much public land for camping or hiking. It’s about an hour boat ride to get there from the Homer Harbor, and once there, you are in old Alaska, remote and spectacularly beautiful, and the cell reception gets better every year (if you want to explore the head of Kachemak Bay and don’t know anyone in Bear Cove, check out the public campground nearby at Chugachik Island.
